Reform Judaism magazine - World's Largest Circulated Jewish Magazine 1st Place Award Winner for Excellence in Jewish Journalism and a Benefit of Membership in a Union Congregation

In Memory: Jerold (Jerry) M. Bass
1931 - 2010

Judaism was, by Jerry’s own accounting, “always a place for action in my life.” First elected to the Union for Reform Judaism Board in 1991, he served as chair of the Investment Committee and as a member of the Outreach, New Congregations, and Lifelong Jewish Learning committees, among others. A past president of both the Union’s Southwest Council and his beloved Congregation Beth Israel in Houston, Jerry was also a member of the HUC-JIR Board of Overseers in Cincinnati and engaged in the work of Houston’s Jewish Federation and Bureau of Jewish Education.

He will be remembered for his cheerfulness, his dedication, and the joy he derived from being part of an ever-changing modern Judaism.
